Hayfever and allergic rhinitis are both caused by irritants, mostly borne in the air.
Hayfever is mostly a summer ailment due to an allergic reaction to grass, tree and flower pollens together with mould spores from trees.
Allergic rhinitis can occur at any time of the year, the irritants being hair, skin, fur, feathers, dust mites, cigarette smoke together with food allergies.
Millions of people around the world are affected by the body’s over-reaction to these allergens by the symptoms produced when histamine is sent to the site of the hypersensitive reaction causing redness, warmth, swelling, itching and tickling; characteristic inflammation, streaming and congestion that are so characteristic of a nasty hay fever reaction.
The long term approach is for a homeopath to take the patient’s case to establish the constitutional picture and also treat any acutes as they arise. This long-term approach may require one or two repetitions in subsequent years but will lead to a noticeable reduction in symptoms this year, aiming for total remission. This is well worth doing for children, since this course of treatment should give them lifelong freedom.
SELF HELP - To relieve and alleviate symptoms you may prescribe one of the following remedies for yourself, matching your symptoms with the remedy.
If you are unfamiliar with taking homeopathic remedies use a 6 potency taking up to 10 doses, stop taking the remedy when the symptoms start to improve.
The 30 potency can be taken provided that it is not over-used; over use will “prove” the remedy causing the symptoms to increase.
