HOMEOPATHIC TREATMENT FOR INFLUENZA
The onset of ‘flu is usually sudden and made worse if the patient attempts to ‘keep going’ and ‘carry on’ as usual. Rest and drinking water will help the patient to recover .
Dose - 30 potency repeated four hourly for a day or two.
OR 6 potency three times a day until relief is obtained.
SELF HELP - To relieve and alleviate symptoms you may prescribe one of the following remedies for yourself, matching your symptoms with the remedy.
As a preventative measure, after contact with someone with influenza, Gelsenium 30 should be taken, three doses spread over 24 hours.
ARSEN ALB – the eyes and nose stream, there is chilliness and great prostration.
BAPTISIA – there is a high fever, gastric symptoms, the patient is stuporous and looks drugged and has a dull red face. There is very rapid prostration and the patient feels ‘all in bits.’
BRYONIA – the patient is very hot and very dry, wants to be still and left alone. There are chest symptoms; the tongue is coated white; there is a great thirst for cold drinks. There is irritability and they may be delirious – talking of business or wanting to go home even though they are home. The patient aches all over and the cough causes a headache which is worse for the least movement and better for pressure.
EUPATORIUM PERFOPLIATUM – there are severe pains in the limbs and back; bones feel broken and the patient dare not move for the pain. There is a bursting headache, with shivering and chills in the back; eyeballs are sore. Chill begins at 7 to 9a.m.
GELSENIUM – chills runs up and down the spine and the patient is alternately hot and cold. There is great heaviness and tiredness in the body and limbs, especially the head and eyelids. Aches and pains all over; sneezing; a hard cough; and an absence of thirst. The patient suffers a bursting headache from behind forward to the eyes and forehead. Feels better for passing large quantities of pale urine.
NUX VOM – very chilly, even cold in bed. The least movement or exposure increases the sensation of cold. Shivering and chill after drinking. There is aching in the limbs and back. The stomach is upset and the nose stuffed up at night.
PYROGENIUM – there are severe pains in the back and thighs. A chillness that no fire can overcome. There are creeping chills with a thumping heart. A very rapid pulse but temperature is not proportionately high. There is intense restlessness; violent pulsations; bursting headache. The bed feels ‘too hard,’ the patient feels beaten and bruised all over.
